The short answer

Eight Clearwater Beach and Sand Key hotels sell day passes through ResortPass. For Wednesday, October 7, 2026, adult prices were $25 at the Wyndham Grand, $45 at the Sand Key Marriott (free parking), $50 at the Hyatt Regency and $90 for the JW Marriott's pool pass. Saturday adult prices at those four ran $10 to $34 higher. Tax is 7%, plus a platform fee. Groups of three or more almost always spend less on the public beach with a $40 umbrella set.

Key takeaways

  • Cheapest listed pass: Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach, $25 per adult midweek in October 2026 ($35 on Saturday, October 10). Its pool and pool deck close for renovation from November 1, 2026, to January 1, 2027.
  • Best family value: the Sand Key Marriott's Family Pass, $125 for two adults and two kids aged 3 to 12, with free self-parking for one car. With tax it's $133.75, Saturday included, before a 25% promo ResortPass says comes off at checkout.
  • Prices move by date. The Hyatt Regency's adult pass was $50 on a Wednesday, $84 on Saturday, October 10, and $70 the following Saturday.
  • ResortPass adds 7% sales tax plus a platform fee at checkout. It doesn't publish the fee amount, so the totals on this page leave it out.
  • SpringHill Suites, Courtyard and AC Hotel sell pool-only passes with no kids' tickets. ResortPass sells adult tickets there to guests 21 and over only.
  • Four people on the public beach, with six hours in a city lot and an umbrella plus four chairs, spend $95.90. Every family option in the Saturday comparison below costs more at list price.

Which Clearwater Beach hotels sell day passes, and what do they cost?

ResortPass, the day-use booking site these hotels sell through, listed eight properties on Clearwater Beach and Sand Key when we checked on October 4, 2026. Marriott's own day-pass site, iDayPass, lists only the JW Marriott for Clearwater and showed no bookable date. Prices change by date, so the table shows what each hotel listed for two specific days: Wednesday, October 7, and Saturday, October 10, 2026. Prices are per person, before tax and the platform fee. Hotels can change them at any time.

Prices aren't fixed by day of the week. On Saturday, October 17, the Hyatt Regency's adult pass dropped to $70, and the Wyndham Grand's adult price fell back to $25 while its child price stayed at $50. Yes, on both Saturdays checked, the Wyndham Grand charged more for a child than for an adult. Promotions come and go too. On October 4, ResortPass showed 25% off several JW Marriott passes (the pool pass at $67.50) and the Sand Key Marriott's Family Pass ($93.75), and on October 5 it added 30% off every Hyatt Regency pass and cabana. ResortPass says these discounts come off automatically at checkout, but they vary by date: the JW Marriott's applied to October 7, not either Saturday. The prices on this page are before any promo. Count a promo as a bonus, not a plan.

On names: Marriott's own site calls the two Sand Key resorts the Clearwater Beach Sheraton Resort on Sand Key and the Clearwater Beach Marriott Resort & Suites on Sand Key. ResortPass lists them as Sheraton Sand Key Resort and Clearwater Beach Marriott Resort on Sand Key. Same hotels. From here on we call them the Sand Key Sheraton and the Sand Key Marriott.

Wyndham Grand pool closes November 1

The Wyndham Grand's brand site says its pool and pool deck will be closed for renovations from November 1, 2026, to January 1, 2027, and its ResortPass page carries the same notice ("Early Nov - Early Jan"). The $25 pass is a pool-and-beach pass, so check what's still included before you book a November or December date.

What's included, parking and luggage storage

Two passes at the same price can buy very different days. A few include reserved beach chairs, several don't include the beach at all, and listed parking runs from free to $30. Everything below comes from each hotel's ResortPass listing as of October 4, 2026.

None of the eight lists a lazy river. If that's what the kids are after, our guide to water parks near Clearwater Beach covers the options. For a look at which resort pools are worth staying for, see our Clearwater Beach hotel pools guide.

How we built this

Method: On October 4, 2026, we downloaded the ResortPass Clearwater Beach listing and each of the eight hotel pages, requesting four specific dates (Wednesday, October 7; Saturday, October 10; Wednesday, October 14; Saturday, October 17, 2026). A script read the adult price, child price, child age range, availability and 7% tax rate that each page embeds for that date, plus each listing's inclusions, pool hours, parking note, guest policies, amenity tags and any active promo. A second run on October 5 returned the same list prices for October 7 and 10. We also requested March 10 and 13 and July 3, 2027, to see how far ahead booking opens. We checked Marriott iDayPass, Shephard's own site and the hotels' brand sites for anything ResortPass doesn't carry. The break-even math uses the City of Clearwater's $3.50-an-hour beach lot rate and umbrella and chair rental prices, the same figures on our parking and chair-rental pages. Limits: prices are what ResortPass showed for those dates on October 4 and will change. We could not see the platform fee without starting a booking, so it's excluded. The pass prices are listings, not quotes, and we didn't buy any passes.

What does a day pass really cost after tax, fees and parking?

Three charges land on top of the listed price.

  • Sales tax. Every day-pass product at these eight hotels carries a 7% tax rate on ResortPass, the same as Pinellas County's combined sales tax. A $50 pass becomes $53.50.
  • The ResortPass platform fee. ResortPass's help center says it charges a platform fee at checkout to support customer service and site upkeep, refundable if you cancel within the booking's cancellation period. It doesn't publish the amount; you see it on the checkout screen. The totals on this page leave it out, so add it when you book.
  • Parking. This is where the passes differ most. The Sand Key Marriott includes free self-parking for one car. The Sand Key Sheraton charges $30 for four or more hours. The JW Marriott offers valet at $10 plus tax. The Hyatt Regency validates for a discount that ResortPass doesn't spell out; Hyatt's own parking page lists self-parking at $7 under a "three-hour minimum" line (the page's data tags it as an hourly rate) and a $40 maximum charge, and says hourly rates vary by season. The Wyndham Grand lists valet "for a fee" with no number.

What you spend on site is the fourth cost, and the one you control. The Hyatt Regency asks every day guest to show a credit card at check-in for on-site spending. The JW Marriott's beach and family passes say no outside food, drinks or lounge chairs. Cabanas come with food-and-drink minimums: $150 at the Hyatt Regency, for example. If you're staying overnight instead, our guide to dining credits and meal deals at Clearwater Beach hotels covers what's bundled.

Worked example: a family of four on Saturday, October 10, 2026

Two adults and two kids aged 3 to 12, one car, a full day. Totals include 7% tax and the parking each hotel lists, but not the platform fee.

Two bundles don't save what their names suggest. The Hyatt Regency's Family Pass cost more than four single passes for this family on both dates ($166 vs $158 midweek, $303 vs $268 on Saturday). It only comes out ahead when most of the group is 16 or older and pays the adult rate: four adults on either date, or three adults and one child midweek. The Sand Key Sheraton's Family Beach Pass matched four single passes on Wednesday ($200 either way) and cost $30 more on Saturday ($240 vs $210), but it adds four reserved beach chairs and two umbrellas from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you'd rent chairs anyway, take the bundle.

When does a day pass beat a free beach day?

The sand is free. On the public beach, you pay for parking and shade. Using the same figures as our Clearwater Beach parking guide ($3.50 an hour in a city lot) and our chair and umbrella rental guide ($40 plus tax for an umbrella and two chairs, $15 plus tax per extra chair), here's what a six-hour beach day costs by group size, and the per-person pass price you'd have to beat.

GroupDIY beach day: 6 hours parking + chairsSame, 4 hours parkingPass beats DIY if it's under (per person, before tax, free parking)Cheapest adult passes, Wed Oct 7 / Sat Oct 10 (with tax, before parking)
1 person$63.80$56.80$59.63$26.75 / $37.45 (Wyndham Grand)
2 people$63.80$56.80$29.81$53.50 / $74.90 (Wyndham Grand)
3 people$79.85$72.85$24.88$80.25 / $112.35 (Wyndham Grand)
4 people$95.90$88.90$22.41$107.00 / $149.80 (Wyndham Grand)

The DIY column assumes one car and one umbrella set, with an extra chair for each person beyond two. The city's rental stands at Pier 60 and the Barefoot Beach House operate 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the $40 umbrella set drops to $25 plus tax after 3 p.m. The last column uses adult prices; for two adults and two kids, see the family table above. The "pass beats DIY" column is the DIY total divided by group size and by 1.07 for tax, and it assumes the pass includes parking. Only the Sand Key Marriott does that outright, so for any other hotel, subtract its parking cost first.

The verdict by group size:

  • Solo travelers: a pass usually wins. One person pays for a whole umbrella set, so every basic midweek adult pass except the JW Marriott's came in under $63.80 with tax, before parking (the Sand Key Sheraton's $80 lunch pass doesn't either, though it includes a meal). The Sand Key Sheraton's $30 parking wipes out its edge.
  • Couples: the public beach usually wins. A pass would need to cost under about $30 a person with free parking. Only the Wyndham Grand's $25 midweek price gets there, and its valet is extra.
  • Families of three or four: the public beach wins by about $38 or more against every option in the Saturday table at list price. The Sand Key Marriott Family Pass came closest at $133.75. If its 25% promo comes off at checkout, it drops to about $100.31 with tax, only about $4 more than the public beach.

Cost isn't everything. A pass gets you a pool when the Gulf is rough, red-flagged or too chilly (see how cold the Gulf gets in winter), a real restroom and shower, a towel, and somewhere to sit that isn't sand. That's what the extra money buys.

Aerial view of Pier 60 and the main Clearwater Beach, with rows of blue umbrellas and shade cabanas on the white sand and high-rise hotels along the shore
The free alternative: the public beach around Pier 60, where the city's rental partner sets up umbrellas and cabanas from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Which pass fits which kind of day?

Two of the eight hotels sit on Sand Key, one bridge south of the main beach. Our comparison of Sand Key and the main beach explains how the two sides differ.

  • Cheapest pool and beach day: Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach, $25 midweek, through October 2026. After that the pool closes until January 1, 2027.
  • Families with young kids: the Sand Key Marriott. The $125 Family Pass covers two adults and two kids, includes free self-parking for one car, and has a splash pad, a locker room with showers and listed luggage storage. The pool faces the bay, and the beach is reached by the hotel's free shuttle. For shade and gear ideas, see our guide to beach days with a baby or toddler.
  • A beach day with chairs handled: the Sand Key Sheraton's Couple's Beach Pass ($110 midweek, $135 Saturday) or Family Beach Pass ($200 / $240). No other pass here includes reserved beach chairs and umbrellas. Parking adds $30.
  • Central location with teens: the Hyatt Regency, on S. Gulfview Boulevard along Beach Walk. Child prices stop at age 15, and the Family Pass covers four people from age 3 up, so it's the better buy once most of your group is 16 or older. Midweek it's $50 per adult; the Saturdays checked ran $70 and $84.
  • Adults only, pool only: SpringHill Suites, Courtyard and the AC Hotel sell 21-and-over tickets only, at $40 midweek and $55 Saturday. None of the three lists beach access.
  • A splurge: the JW Marriott. Marriott's own site describes a rooftop pool with Gulf views. A pool-only pass is $90 midweek, and kids 2 to 12 pay the same. The Pool + Beach pass runs $185 to $245 a person.

Can you use a day pass on arrival or checkout day?

Yes, and it's one of the smartest ways to use one. With an 11 a.m. checkout and a 7 p.m. flight, a pass buys you a pool, a shower and somewhere to wait. ResortPass lists luggage storage as an amenity at five of the eight: the Hyatt Regency, the Sand Key Marriott, SpringHill Suites, Courtyard and AC Hotel. The Wyndham Grand, the Sand Key Sheraton and the JW Marriott don't list it, so call ahead before you show up with suitcases.

The Sand Key Marriott is the most practical choice for a departure day with a car, because parking is included and it lists both luggage storage and a locker room with showers. Our arrival and departure day guide, linked in the table above, covers bag storage and late-checkout options in more detail. Cruise passengers killing time before a Tampa sailing should also read our before or after a cruise guide, since the port is about 26 road miles away.

Cancellation windows

Single day passes can be cancelled until the day before: by 10 a.m. hotel time at the Sand Key Marriott, JW Marriott, SpringHill Suites, Courtyard and AC Hotel, and by 11:59 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency and Wyndham Grand. Bundles and cabanas can differ (the Sand Key Marriott's Family Pass allows until 11:59 p.m.; the Hyatt Regency's cabana cutoff is 10 a.m.). The Sand Key Sheraton's listing showed no cancellation terms, so read the checkout screen. ResortPass's help center says bookings are non-refundable once the cancellation window closes, even for bad weather, so a stormy forecast the night before is your last chance to back out or reschedule.

Do day passes sell out, and when should you book?

Single passes were available at all eight hotels on all four October dates we checked. Bundles and cabanas were tighter. The JW Marriott's Family Pool + Beach pass showed as unavailable on both Saturdays (October 10 and 17), and Shephard's VIP Cabana Room was sold out for Saturday, October 10. The Wyndham Grand's two cabana products showed "Only 1 left" for that Saturday.

We also tried Saturday, July 3, 2027, a holiday weekend. Every product at all eight hotels showed as unavailable, which most likely means booking hadn't opened that far ahead rather than a sell-out. Either way, you can't lock in a summer holiday pass that far out. Spring break is a different story: single passes for Wednesday, March 10, and Saturday, March 13, 2027, were already bookable at all eight. For spring break and summer weekends, book as soon as your date opens.

Weekday passes are cheaper and easier to get. If your trip has any slack, put the pool day on a Tuesday or Wednesday and save the free beach for the weekend. On a summer date, check when afternoon storms usually hit before you book, since a rained-out pass isn't refundable once the cancellation window closes.

What are the cheaper alternatives to a day pass?

Shephard's Beach Resort: tiki deck free, pool by cabana only

Shephard's Beach Resort (619 S. Gulfview Blvd.) doesn't sell a day pass. Its Soak Pool Bar page says you need a hotel guest wristband to be in the pool area unless you've rented a poolside cabana. Cabanas are booked through Shephard's Soak Pool reservation page: for October 7 and 10, 2026, a 6-person cabana carried a $300 food-and-drink minimum with $67 due at booking, an 8-person cabana a $350 minimum, and the VIP Cabana Room a $750 minimum. Split six ways, the 6-person cabana's minimum is $50 a head before tax and tip, and it goes toward food and drinks rather than an entry fee.

The free part: Shephard's says chairs and shaded areas at the tiki deck are free of charge, and you can order from Tiki Beach Grill. For more beach bars on the sand, see our bars guide. The catch is age. On weekends, holidays, special events and high-occupancy days, anyone under 21 who isn't a hotel guest is kept off the tiki deck and beach. No outside food, drinks, chairs, coolers or umbrellas are allowed anywhere on the property.

The public beach, with the right extras

The city runs free public restrooms and rinse showers along the beach (the restrooms map linked at the bottom of this page shows where), so a pass isn't the only way to rinse off. Our guide to what's free at Clearwater Beach lists the costs you can and can't avoid. To cut the parking line, Sand Key Park's county lot one bridge south is usually cheaper than the beach garages; the parking guide linked above has its current rate. Our guide to free and cheapest beach parking covers more ways to cut that cost.

Families: when the pool is really about the kids

If the pass is mainly about keeping little ones busy, try the free options first. Our Clearwater Beach with kids guide covers free family stops near Pier 60.

How we researched this

We pulled day-pass prices, inclusions, parking notes, amenity tags and cancellation terms from ResortPass's Clearwater Beach listing and each hotel's ResortPass page for four dates in October 2026, retrieved October 4, 2026, and rechecked October 5. We checked Marriott iDayPass, Hyatt's parking page, Wyndham's brand site and Shephard's own site and cabana booking page, and took the city's parking and chair-rental rates from the City of Clearwater. ResortPass's help center describes the platform fee but not its amount. We didn't buy passes, visit the pools or call the hotels. We're an independent guide, and no hotel or booking site named here pays us.
