The short answer

Clearwater Beach has four free public restrooms run by the city: Mandalay Park at Rockaway Street (532 Mandalay Ave.), Pier 60 Park (open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.), the Barefoot Beach House (332 S. Gulfview Blvd.) and 410 S. Gulfview Blvd., both on Beach Walk. Rinse shower towers line Beach Walk along South Gulfview Boulevard, from Pier 60 south to the Opal Sands resort. For changing stalls, Sand Key Park's two bathhouses (1060 Gulf Blvd.) are the best setup.

Key takeaways

  • All four city restrooms sit within about half a mile of Pier 60. North of Mandalay Park, the city lists no public restroom for roughly the last mile of North Beach.
  • Restrooms are free. The city's 2026 concession contract bars coin-operated toilets, and the bid documents behind it require all four buildings to be cleaned twice a day, 365 days a year.
  • Hours depend on the building: Pier 60 Park 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Mandalay Park sunrise to sunset, the Barefoot Beach House restrooms whenever its concession is open. The beach itself never closes.
  • The showers are open-air rinse towers along Beach Walk. There are no changing rooms or public lockers, so change in a restroom stall or drive to Sand Key Park.
  • The city does not number its beach access points. It describes public entrances running from South Gulfview Boulevard near the Opal Sands north to Eldorado Avenue, just before the Carlouel Yacht Club.

Where are the public restrooms on Clearwater Beach?

The city doesn't publish a single restroom list for the beach, but its 2026 contract for the Pier 60 and Barefoot Beach House concessions names the Gulf-side public restroom buildings the operator must keep clean and stocked. There are four. No other city listing adds a fifth, and all of them sit in the middle of the island:

  1. Mandalay Park ("Rockaway restrooms"), 532 Mandalay Ave., by Rockaway Street, about half a mile north of Pier 60.
  2. Pier 60 Park, at the concession building beside the pier (10 Pier 60 Drive in the city contract), where the Memorial Causeway meets the beach.
  3. Barefoot Beach House, 332 S. Gulfview Blvd., on Beach Walk about 0.3 mile south of the pier.
  4. Beach Walk south, 410 S. Gulfview Blvd., next to the city parking lot at 420 S. Gulfview, about 0.45 mile south of the pier.

Across Clearwater Pass, Sand Key Park (5) and Sand Key Bayside Park (6) add more. The distances above are straight-line estimates from map coordinates, so allow roughly a 6- to 8-minute walk from the pier to the Barefoot Beach House and about 10 minutes to Mandalay Park.

Map of public restrooms, showers and beach access on Clearwater Beach and Sand Key North is to the right and the Gulf is along the top. Restroom 1 is Mandalay Park at Rockaway Street, north of Pier 60. Restroom 2 is at Pier 60. Restrooms 3 and 4 are on Beach Walk at 332 and 410 South Gulfview Boulevard. The city contradicts itself on Pier 60 Park. The park listing says 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., the general Clearwater Beach page says 6 a.m. Plan on 7. The 410 S. Gulfview restroom has no posted schedule; if you need it early or late, call Clearwater Parks and Recreation at (727) 562-4800. The concession contract the council approved in August 2026, which takes effect March 1, 2027, keeps the Pier 60 and Barefoot Beach House restrooms open whenever those stands are open, calls for attendants at peak times of year, and sets a floor of 70 opening hours a week, starting no earlier than 6 a.m.

Are the restrooms open after the 2024 hurricanes, and at night?

As of early October 2026 the city posts no closure for any of the four. Helene and Milton damaged the Barefoot Beach House in September and October 2024, and in November 2025 the city reported the tenant had completed the repairs. Storm surge from Helene also tore up the Rockaway parking lot (Lot 36) beside Mandalay Park, and the council ordered it rebuilt in December 2024; the city's parking list now shows it at 146 spaces. The new concession contract approved in August 2026 still names all four restrooms for daily cleaning. The one current notice is sidewalk repair near Pier 60 Park, and the city says the pier, beach and park stay open during the work.

Nights are the problem. The beach is open 24 hours, but Pier 60 Park closes at 9 p.m., Mandalay Park at sunset, and the concession restrooms when their stands do. After dark, count on your hotel or a restaurant where you're a customer.

With small kids, set up between markers 2 and 3

The stretch of sand from Pier 60 south to the Barefoot Beach House puts you a few minutes from two restrooms, the Pier 60 playground, shower towers and Lifeguard Tower 0. North Beach is quieter, but past Mandalay Park the nearest restroom is a long walk back. More family logistics are in our Clearwater Beach with kids guide, plus tips for the beach with a baby or toddler.

Where are the outdoor showers?

They're built into Beach Walk, the promenade along South Gulfview Boulevard. City Council records describe Beach Walk as more than 3,000 feet of walkway with shower towers, water fountains and other amenities, running from Pier 60 Park south to the Opal Sands. Any Beach Walk entrance between those two ends puts you within a short walk of one. These are open-air rinse showers for sand and salt, not enclosed stalls.

City documents don't list any public showers on North Beach, so if you've set up there, rinse at Pier 60 on the way back to the car. Parks staff are also adding pads for bike racks and water fountains along Beach Walk (three of nine sites were done as of May 2026). For a proper rinse before a drive or a flight, Sand Key Park has outdoor showers beside its bathhouses.

Is there anywhere to change clothes or leave bags?

Not on Clearwater Beach itself. The city lists no changing rooms and no public lockers, so people change in the restroom stalls. The only mention of lockers in city documents is a contract clause recognizing the right of the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa (301 S. Gulfview Blvd.) to run a public concession of about 1,200 square feet directly west of the hotel, with towels and lockers. Ask at the Hyatt whether it's operating and what it charges before you count on it. Another option is a resort day pass with showers and lockers, and if you're between hotel checkout and a flight, see our checkout-day options for bags and showers.

Sand Key Park is better for changing: Pinellas County lists two bathhouses with separate changing stalls, and Visit St. Pete-Clearwater's accessibility guide notes an accessible changing room with a bench near Boardwalk 4.

The same guide (updated August 2025) reports ADA-compliant bathrooms at Clearwater Beach, and the city says its free loaner beach wheelchairs from Lifeguard Tower 0 (180 S. Gulfview Blvd., 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) are under 36 inches wide so they fit through common building facilities, restrooms included. More in our wheelchair-accessible Clearwater Beach guide.

Where are the public beach access points?

The city doesn't number its beach access points, so this guide labels them by street. The city says public entrances run the length of the beach, from South Gulfview Boulevard near the Opal Sands to Eldorado Avenue just before the Carlouel Yacht Club. From south to north, here's how that breaks down, with the nearest city lot (all $3.50 an hour, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., as of October 2026):

Two rules depend on where you enter. Leashed dogs are allowed only north of Somerset Street on North Beach (more on dogs on Clearwater Beach), and surfboards and paddleboards have to stay outside the swim zones or go north of Somerset. Lifeguards work 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with towers staffed by season and weather; our lifeguard guide explains what they help with. For garages, private lots and how early lots fill, see the Clearwater Beach parking guide.

The access mat is short until Nov. 1

The city's accessibility mat starts at Beach Walk just south of Pier 60. During sea turtle nesting season (May 15 to Oct. 31) it runs only 100 feet onto the sand; from Nov. 1 to May 14 it runs 260 feet. Either way it stops short of the waterline.

Does Clearwater Beach have a boardwalk?

Not a wooden one. What people usually mean is Beach Walk, the paved, landscaped promenade that opened in July 2008 and runs along South Gulfview Boulevard from Pier 60 Park south to the Opal Sands. It's colored concrete with stone sand walls and seat caps, amber bollard lighting, shower towers and water fountains. It's also the easy way to walk between restrooms 2, 3 and 4 without slogging through soft sand. Motorized and electric bikes, scooters and hoverboards aren't allowed on it, apart from medically necessary devices.

North of Pier 60 there's no promenade; you walk Mandalay Avenue or the sand. Sand Key Park has an actual boardwalk.

The curving, paved Beach Walk promenade runs beside the sand south of Pier 60. The shower towers and two of the four city restrooms are along this stretch.

What facilities are at Pier 60 and Sand Key Park?

Pier 60 Park is the most complete stop on Clearwater Beach: restrooms, a playground, picnic tables, covered pavilions, a snack shop and paved walkways, with Lifeguard Tower 0 ((727) 444-8580) just to the south and the shower towers starting at Beach Walk. The park number is (727) 444-8270. The pier itself, fishing passes and the sunset festival are covered in our Pier 60 page.

Sand Key Park (1060 Gulf Blvd.) is Pinellas County's 95-acre park at the north tip of Sand Key, about 1.5 miles by road from the south end of Beach Walk over the Sand Key Bridge, or about 2 miles from Pier 60 (map routing estimates). The county lists two bathhouses with separate changing stalls, outdoor showers, a concession, umbrella and cabana rentals, a playground, a boardwalk and nature trail, and two beach wheelchairs. It's open 7 a.m. to sunset, with seasonal lifeguards, and parking is $6 a day at pay stations that take only Visa, Mastercard or American Express (as of October 2026). The county also notes a seawall section closed for marina-project staging through October 2026, but lists no bathhouse closures. Our Sand Key Park guide covers the beach itself.

The verdict: for a quick swim, the four city restrooms and the Beach Walk showers are enough, as long as you stay between Mandalay Park and the Opal Sands. If you need to change, want a real rinse, or have small kids who need a bathroom close by all day, Sand Key Park's bathhouses are worth the $6.

How we researched this

Compiled from City of Clearwater park pages, its beach parking and accessibility pages, City Council records (including the Pier 60 and Barefoot Beach House concession contract approved in August 2026), Pinellas County's Sand Key Park and park-updates pages, and Visit St. Pete-Clearwater's accessibility guide. Map positions are plotted from OpenStreetMap data. Hours and fees checked October 2026. We did not visit or call any facility for this page.
