Independence Day at Clearwater Beach is one of the largest fireworks displays on Florida's Gulf Coast. The fireworks launch from the end of Pier 60 directly out over the Gulf, so the entire 3-mile beach gets a perfect viewing angle. Combined with the all-day festivities, it's one of the most-attended single events on the beach all year.

Schedule (Typical)

Best Viewing Spots

  1. Beach directly south of Pier 60 — straight-on view, biggest crowds
  2. Pier 60 itself — closer but partial view behind the launch zone
  3. Palm Pavilion beach deck — elevated, with dinner, but busy
  4. Rooftop of the Hyatt Regency (The Wave) — premium view, requires drinks purchase
  5. Sand Key Park beach — 5-minute drive south, less crowded, still clear view
  6. On a boat off the beach — private charter or sunset cruise, best view of all

Parking Reality

By 2–3 PM, the beach parking garages are full. Strategies:

Hotel Booking

Book at least 3 months ahead for July 4 weekend — beachfront rooms sell out first. If you want to avoid the driving/parking chaos entirely, stay on the beach and walk everywhere.

Pro move: dinner at Palm Pavilion at 6 PM, walk the beach during the Pier 60 Sunset Festival, watch the sun drop over the Gulf, then move 200 yards south and watch the fireworks start exactly at 9. You'll see why people come back every year.
